Their working principles are also different. Shopping mall trackless trains are typically powered by battery packs, with a drive motor driving rubber tires through a transmission system.

Diesel-powered tourist sightseeing trains generally refer to diesel-powered rail vehicles, such as diesel locomotives or diesel multiple units. These vehicles are powered by diesel engines, which propel them along tracks. Their working principle mainly involves heat energy conversion, power transmission, and traction control. The diesel engine serves as the core power source. Fuel burns in the cylinder, producing high-temperature, high-pressure gas that drives the piston in reciprocating motion. The piston, through a connecting rod, drives the crankshaft to rotate, converting heat energy into mechanical energy. In diesel locomotives, the engine typically does not directly drive the wheels but is connected to a generator (diesel-electric powertrain). The generator converts mechanical energy into electrical energy, supplying the traction motors installed near the wheels. The traction motor converts electrical energy back into mechanical energy, driving the wheels to rotate, thereby generating traction to pull the carriage.
